Page 4: WordPress has no built in Stats

By default (that I know of) WordPress doesn’t track anything. What most of us want is a mechanism to track what’s going on daily in our blog, and then what the trends have been over time. I use the official WordPress.com “Stats” plugin for my daily view, and Google Analytics for the long term (both are free). I like hte fact that by using WordPress.com Stats I can see my top pages and search terms for the day, in addition to top links people are clicking on. But in Google Analytics I can drill down and see how many people are coming from google, Yahoo, MSN, or bookmarks for the last month, quarter, or year. I can even setup reports to run daily and auto-email me a PDF compilation of what’s going on if I want.
