Page 18: WordPress has no built in advertising mechanism

When I first started blogging 8 or 9 years ago it was a noble thing to do, a bit self-serving, and information all at once. There weren’t ways to “monetize” blogs really and we blogged about all the cool things we found on the web. Google and Yahoo started as cool little cutesy ideas too, and now they’re billion dollar entities. I think that no matter what your reasons for blogging, whether you’re a musician, a stay-at-home mom, a senior citizen, a teen, a college student, or a professor – everyone would like a little money for troubles and time spent blogging. Thousands more get online each and every day to try and “find their fortune” blogging online.

The easiest way to try to make money on your blog is by just placing some ads on your pages and posts – and the most popular way to do this would be Google Adsense. You could use the Why Do Work Adsense Plugin, which not only inserts adsense ads for you, but it also can configure them to say run one ad for the first 7 days, and then run a different sized one after that. On the other hand, the All in One Adsense and YPN Plugin allows you to insert google Adsense OR Yahoo YPN ads on your WordPress Blog. If you want insanely fine grained control of your ads, then the Who Sees Ads Plugin will allows you to control example who, how, and where your ads will be shown.
