They can - which is why you need to watch out for plugins that conflict. I have (in the past) tried and removed dozens of plugins that slowed down my blog, such as SezWho, Backtype, and a hundred more. Using WP Super Cache can help a lot as well.

With so many plugins running on your site, does it slow down the loading of the site?

I try to limit my plugins because I was always afraid to many make my sites run slower plus on many plugins I was not sure what they do for me.

I have been looking for a plugin that can display my wordpress.com stats onto my blog, any suggestions? I guess it'd be difficult to make it as one needs to log in to wordpress.com to see the stats even in the dashboard...

=;; I'm not saying it doesn't concern me, but no - I've never had a problem with Wordpress plugins and security. And now that version 2.3x+ of Wordpress automatically notifies you when there's a new release of a plugin - it's even easier to keep them up do date.

I would much rather provide my plugin list as a resource than guard it because I'm always worried about getting hacked. If something happens, I have database backups to restore from.

Hope that helped!

I use several of Lester Chan's plugins myself, and am impressed with how easy they are to use and I've never had a conflict problem with them. I have avoided using plugins used one, though - I worry about security issues that may arise from revealing the plugins I use. Is this something you worry about, or are there not many security issues with WordPress plugins?
