it doesn't matter where you host the images, you can still SEO them with alt and title tags.

Great post JT!

I have launched my blog about 8 months ago under the wordpress platform and i am currently getting over 7500 people a day just with simple seo techniques you spoke about. I really had zero-experience and with simple mods you can really climb those ranks.
I wanted to ask you about keywords and alt_tags on images. I actually host my images with a third party such as tinypic,... and i wanted to know if being doing this i have the same juice coming from search done on google images?
I there a big difference from uploading it to my own ftp or hosting it on a third party site.

Thanks

Naming the image inappropriately is one of the common mistakes prevailing across 90% of the websites. Even bigger SEOs are not paying attention to it. I can see lots of e-commerce websites naming their product images shabbily. They simply dont understand the power of naming it with a keyword. I will retweet this post so that it reaches to considerable amount of my friends who still do this mistake.

Regards,
Alan.

I would have liked to say 'I already know all of these techniques' but the fact is that I have not really taken advantage of them by actually using them all. For instance, I do use images but I haven't been using the title tag for its SEO effect. In my links I sometimes forget to utilize the alt tags. Sometimes, it takes a post like this to remind us of what we've missed doing.

I totally agree with the use of images in your website content. An image isn't only worth a thousand words but it adds more "dimension" to your content.

Thanks for this post--specifically the part about how to store and format images. I had trouble using the keyword research tool--I got no results for any terms.

Awesome post! Your Secret #2 on using titles in links sounds pretty powerful, I'm going to go back to do that to my links tonight!

I've been lazy on keyword research too, tough when you are doing many things, and learning everything all at once, going to go back and really map out a plan. I am starting to see some results in google for the few terms that I've targeted, but I've got to be alot more aggressive... How many keywords do you target in general? And how much is based on going back to analytics to see how people are actually finding you, and building on that?

Thanks for all the great info JT!

Great post! I love seeing all the details. I remember reading other articles in the past that left big snippets of info out just like you mentioned. Having the whole picture in front of me is really helpful, as I'm sure it is for other readers. Thanks again for the tips
