Mission Statement: Welcome to jtpratt.com! I'm John Pratt and I want you to know that my web site should help you save both money and time. I've spent the last 2 years trying to become rich online, and I what I found is that there are no shortcuts. It's hard work. I've hit paydirt a few times, and one month I even made over $4,000. I thought I had it all figured out, until the money stream dried up and my "shortcut" failed to work anymore. This site is a work in progress, but mainly what I do is document what works for me and how I'm trying to build a sustainable income online to support my family and build a future working for myself. I spend more than a hundred hours a month posting my experiences and mistakes for you - all I ask is that you participate here (by commenting) with what is (and isn't) working for you, and if you decide to buy or signup for something I recommend, please follow one of my affiliate links. Remember, the only one stopping your success is you!

By no means does this mean I’m “picking apart” other bloggers - or that I’m superior to them, or even that I’m earning more money online. [...]

So yesterday, when I posted about the Viral Recommendation Carousel, I talked about that idea coming Marco Richter. I commented on his page that I was surprised he didn’t contact anyone about the project - and he commented back that HE TRIED to contact me, but couldn’t find a way on my blog to do [...]

So I’m checking my email today, and I get a google alert for “www.jtpratt.com”. In my next post I’ll talk about why and how I do that. I read the email and it had one link to Marco Richter’s Blog. Specifically his post on the Viral Recommendation Carousel. It’s a novel linkbuilding concept. In some [...]

There are all kinds of stats plugins and services available to track your web or blog. They all do various things well, and I’ve personally used quite a few of them. One of the biggest blogging mistakes you can make is not paying enough attention to your SEO techniques. With Wordpress it can be even worse, since out of the box WP really doesn’t do any SEO at all and doesn’t make for a very SEO friend web site. Most of us that have been using [...]

A lot of people monetize their blogs with Text Links Ads. I mean, why not? If you’re not making a pile of cash with adsense, your low traffic, better than PR2 blog or web site can make an extra hundred bucks per month using this service. Just list your site, and you can sell up [...]

I noticed on one of my web sites that I was getting some hits from google with “sms send” and “(keyword) to cell”. It occurred to me that people wanted to send my content to a cell phone, probably a friend. So I set out to find what SMS tools were available for web sites. [...]
