Thanks for all these information! This actually reminds me that I have neglected my sitemap as I did not get the "Google XML Sitemaps" going, I have just tried the above mentioned "Google sitemap generator" but the sitemap also could not be written.
I am now using "Dragon Design sitemap generator". The installation went ok, but I am not sure if it really produced a sitemap ...I guess I'll have to dig deeper into that!

I don't know if you posted this comment to incite a response or what - but my article tells you exactly what to do with very find grained detail. And by not doing anything with MSN or Yahoo - that's you own personal choice, but it's like saying for every dollar you earn at work you're going to throw 30 or 40 cents away. Who would do something like that? Just because you're top in google (for ONE search phrase) now - doesn't mean you will be tomorrow.

Fine, you tell us what we could be doing but you don't tell us how to it, or with what - had you done that then this article would have been even more interesting.

Personally I don't waste any time with MSN or Yahoo, their site map systems dont seem to work, although with Google I am top of page 1 for over 900 pages - and that pays more than enough both in money and traffic (not this wesite - this is a new one).

Bear in mind that for some even though you do all the SEO on the planet that your site may still not rate - it may even disappear altogther - good clean interesting content on pages that work well and dont lock up or take a lifetime to open will do much more in your favour.

Bloggers take note - your hugely long pages containing every blog article from 2004 are a NO NO - that is the best way to piss people off and make sure that neither they, nor the bots return to your site. Also pages containg just one measly paragraph per page of useless information is not going to do it either...

A little SEO, a lot of thought to layout, design, and presentation, and some damned good content will work wonders for you.

I like your 20/30/50 ratio. Purchase a great theme and this could possibly even be adjusted to 10/30/60. Excellent post, thanks.

This is great blog I should take a lot of improvement. Im interseted in SEO and win the SERP in search engine as this seems the biggest source of consistent traffic. With traffic, business can be started.
May I copy your article and put in my blog (with your permition off course) and put links to the original article source ?
I will also translate it to Indonesian in my indonesian blog at :

I've got my tech blog indexed very well in yahoo, but moderately poor in traffic. Beside submitting to yahoo index, seo for yahoo is the next thing we should do. Around 90% visitors of my tech blog come from google and the rest is shared among yahoo, aol and some referrals.

JT, I just came across this article and wanted to say "Thanks." Too often we focus on the big "G" and lose sight of the fact that other search engines still have a substantial following.

Is the XML Sitemap plugin the most current? I have yet to fool with this on any of my blogs, as there are so many conflicting notions on it.

I also tend to edit my posts alot, wont having a sitemap affect me, because of several pings?
