Hmm, I use worday and find myself a little perplexed about the keyword SEO issue. Now the ebay text in the listings should still be recognized by the search engines for keywords, right? So what you’re saying is that the cloaked links are just not optimized for additional keyword richness, right? But wouldn’t that be on the border of stuffing…

One of the cons for WP Zin Text is that you are forced to give them 10% of your traffic... I'd rather pay for the plugin up front than to get a free plugin and give the author 10% for the rest of my life... but that's just me I guess... :)

Thanks for these blog posts. I have several BANS sites that I have built up and dont want to keep investing in a platform that I fear is being abandoned by Kelvin and Adam. I thinking about "scraping" my content and going with Wordpress and one of these eBay plugins.

Nice review!
I had a plugin, which I won't mention the name, because the creator did try to help me, but it made those pages show up as a suspicious site in IE. Since reading your review I switched to WordBay. I love it. Thanks!

thanks for the comment Mark! The SEO link is something that PHPBay Pro does, basically it takes the title of auction and makes that the keywords in the link instead of something like a hash. So you would get www.site.com/buy.php?Motorola-RAZR-NIB-NO-Reserve, and that (in the link) combined with the same keywords in the text make a greater (SEO) combination and possibly boosting your results in search engines.

Hi, thanks for the positive write-up of WordBay - I can't believe how far it's come myself since the messy bit of work it was originally! Like most authors of the plugins you mention, probably, I develop WordBay as a hobby, with just a bit of revenue coming in from people sharing impressions with me, and I guess that's the only thing that keeps me working on it as much as I do.

Your CON comments are all quite valid, of course, and most of the suggestions I have heard before, or thought of myself, but simply not had time to implement. The latest version DOES now allow you to specify seller IDs. Most of the other options are certainly things I WOULD like to introduce at some point, especially per-post settings override, but the latter especially is going to take quite a bit of additional programming...

The SEO links idea is a new one on me though - never thought of that! How would that work? Insert the search keywords into the link, purely to increase keyword saturation on the page - is that what you were thinking? I guess that could be done, though I would have to exclude negative keywords, which would make things complicated again. But it could be done - I will think about it! Or maybe just insert the item title in the link? Now that would be a whole lot easier... Sigh, more good ideas for development - when will it end!

Keep up the good work anyway, and keep an eye on the WordBay blog, there is some sort of new version almost every month at least.

Cheers,

Mark
