Besides, in Wordpress websites you can use cache techniques as well... you can cache database access and HTML rendering. There's WP plugins that will do this for you, and they work really well!

Don't put post via email details. In an attempt to use the post via email, I entered server name, port, email, password. It never worked, but I did not delete the details. Using the site http://www.joomlaperformance.com/ > Tools >Performace Grader
I discovered that my blg took 63 seconds to generate, because http://www.EXAMPLE.com/WP-blogDIRECTORY/wp-mail.php need 60seconds.
I just removed the post via mail details in admin and saved the cahnges. Now my blog generated in 3 seconds flat.

Nice tips. We are in the process of setting up a blog with several blogs in sub-directories, all under one domain. I think I'm guilty of calls to outside sources for images. ~ Joe :)

@Jim - first of all, never EVER sign up for a web host that limits databases, emails, subdomains - or about anything. Over a year ago I switched totally everything on my shared accounts from goDaddy to <a href="http://www.dpbolvw.net/mk121xdmjdl041A89460215195A3?sid=fastest.hostgator" rel="nofollow">Hostgator</a> and I couldn't be happier! I can have unlimited web sites, databases, or whatever I want for a very reasonable price.

Secondly though, no plugins don't require additional databases - they just create new tables in your existing Wordpress database. The problem installing (and removing) dozens of tables into a Wordpress database poses is that usually when a plugin is deleted, the tables and data it created are left behind - leaving your to manually remove them and clean it up. Some of the better plugins do clean up after themselves or have a "completely uninstall" option.

Thanks for the article. I have a really dumb question as I ponder setting up a WordPress installation for my business.

I notice many web hosts only allow 5-10 MySQL databases. Doesn't that pose a problem for the many plug-ins in WordPress that want to use a MySQL database? I guess I'm assuming they all just start their own, or at least many of them do.

Thanks for your help. Good site.
