Page 3: Most Wordpress themes have no Archives Index

I’ve used hundreds of wordpress themes, and most seem to have an archives “Index” page at all. Usually all you get are links in the sidebar to your monthly archives. If I’m reading your blog and I like one post, chances are I want to see at a glance if you have other things I like and if I should read more and come back again. A good archives page gives the ability to “quick-scan” not only what you’re written recently, but also what you’ve written over time. How many comments you have or how many times they’ve been viewed can also be very handy as well. Read my post Wordpress Hack #2: How to Create A Master Archive Index Page and create one for your blog today.

You really hit the nail on the head with this post…or 20 nails…

The funny thing is that everything you talked about here - are all things that i use on every blog. The comment form, the 2 sitemaps, the search log, some kind of stats, super cache, etc.

I’ve often wondered why a lot of these things don’t get built in.

Looks like the feed notations on commentluv didn’t work. delete the other one please.

Great resource you have compiled here. I think most people are aware of about half of these problems and the plugins to fix them, but this lays it all out.

    Thanks!
